A selection of photo books from the last five decades, from the Joan Flasch Artists’ Book Collection at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago will be available for viewing and browsing at the Festival.
All are welcome to visit the pop-up library, browse the photo books, and chat with curator Anne-Dorothee Boehme, head of Flaxman Library Special Collections and Kayla Anderson, Special Collections Manager, to learn more about the collection’s scope and development.
The Joan Flasch Artists’ Book Collection at the School of the Art Institute is a rich collection of artists’ publications in all formats and media including books, zines, multiples, video and audio recordings, digital works, and periodicals, created by artists of local, national, and international significance. Focusing on materials published from the 1960s to the present, it is complemented by collections of reference works and exhibition catalogues to support in-depth research on the history of artists’ publishing. There are currently close to 10,000 titles available for viewing by the public. The JFABC is located in the Flaxman Library, 37 S. Wabash Ave., Suite 508, Chicago, IL 60603.
