For many photographers, publishing a photo-book or books is at the top of their bucket list. This intensive workshop is designed for photographers of any level who are interested in learning the process of hand-binding their own hardback, cloth-covered, photography book.
April will begin with a short discussion about paper, materials, and tools and will then teach participants techniques to prepare and sew the book block, create the spine and covers piece, and finally how to encase the book block in the cover piece to complete their hand-bound photo books.
Participants will submit files of their pre-designed books a week before the Festival and their pages will be printed and ready to bind prior to the workshop. Books will be pressed over night and can be picked up at the Festival on Sunday, at Filter Space the following week, or shipped to out of town participants.
Includes all course materials. This workshop is held offsite at LATITUDE, 1821 W. Hubbard Street, Suite 207.
This workshop is limited to 10 students.
