Generally speaking, we immediately recognize the photographic work of Cindy Sherman, Robert Frank, Roy DeCarava, or Lorna Simpson when we see it. All of the various aspects of how the image is constructed indicate the work’s specific maker. How? Through point of view, style, perspective, subject choice, tone, and voice.
Perhaps the most difficult aspect of an artist’s journey is the discovery of voice, the one thing that speaks of one’s uniqueness and singularity. Using image and text, in this workshop we will focus on the nature of voice, its range and register, its quality, shape and dimension as it relates to your own photographic work.
